Course Description: Around 500 pediatric liver transplants are carried out in Europe each year. No standardized training or exchange of clinical standards exists. In 2015 the ESPGHAN launched a School of Pediatric Liver Transplantation (PLT) consisting in a residential course, not intended to replace the clinical training but aiming at supplementing it, focusing at the most important topics in the field and supporting the exchange of clinical experience. The 2nd ESPGHAN Liver Transplantation School took place in 2017, in the italian city of Bergamo and is now being run in a biannual rhythm. This School is organized by the ESPGHAN Paediatric Hepatology Committee and is designed to provide cutting-edge information on this critical aspect of modern hepatology. The Faculty members will provide interactive sessions on the selection process, operations, complications and the long-term care of these patients, and feedback on the delegates’ cases. The School will represent an initial step in the formal educational module for young hepatologists towards ESPGHAN Diploma in Paediatric Liver Transplantation (EDiPaeLT). This meeting should attract younger gastroenterologists and hepatologists who have an ambition to develop transplantation programs locally, but also more senior established clinicians who would like to get a state-of-the-art update in an informal setting.

After the success of the 1st ESRS Sleep Science School “Neural Networks in Sleep” organized in October 2017, the ESRS board has decided to continue supporting the organization of thematic schools aimed at gathering early career sleep scientists around different fundamental topics, allowing them to gain knowledge, share their work and experience, meet experienced researchers, develop opportunities and create novel networks of excellence. The program will be highly proactive and aimed at a maximal involvement of participants. It will include in-depth lectures by international sleep experts on Sleep and Aging topics (both human and animal work), together with presentation and discussion of the participants’ own research, workshop interactive sessions aimed at writing research grants and proposals, and in-depth exchanges between early career and experienced researchers.
